In 2015, the entertainment and sports world lost one of the greatest legends who passed away way too young. “Rowdy” Roddy Piper died of a heart attack at just 61. The actor was born as Roderick George Toombs from Sacaton, Saskatchewan, Canada, in 1954; Piper was a professional Custom Championship Belts whose “Piper’s Pit” interviews were as famous as his antics inside and outside of the wrestling ring. He was able to transform his career into various areas of entertainment, such as acting.

He was in a range of screen roles and voiceovers for cartoons. However, Roddy is perhaps most famous for his portrayal of John Nada in They Live. This John Carpenter, science fiction classic has earned him a substantial popular following. Never one to stick to the same persona for long, Roddy was initially custom belts of the villain and often transitioned into being a hero or some sort of good guy. He also appeared in the role of a comedian as late as 2014 and had an impressive reputation as a host of podcasts.
Roddy was of Scottish heritage and was proud of it, as shown by his attire to the Ring. Even though he developed an adept skill in the Bagpipes from a young age, Piper says he cannot remember how it happened. Roddy remembers how he came up with his name in the wrestling world. Roddy entered the Ring with a kilt on in the early days of his professional career and was playing custom leather belts.
The announcer could not remember the last name used; he identified the wrestling champion by calling him “Roddy Piper.” Piper” The name stuck. Piper’s story was always rife with controversy that began when he was formally kicked from Junior High School. Piper later left home as a teenager after numerous disagreements against his father. His father was a part of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and was always concerned about his family’s image.
An athlete of natural talent who was always working out, Piper managed to find jobs in various gyms, which provided him with money to stay in Hostels. Roddy had a competitive attitude and started his profession as an amateur boxer, wrestler, and custom boxing belts. He later won the highly coveted Golden Gloves Championship and received the Black Belt in Judo from an American professional wrestler, a judo expert, and world champion Gene Lebel. At the age Piper was only 15 years old, he was able to leap professional wrestling and was a member of the American Wrestling Association.
